Use the Windows Event Viewer to Help Troubleshoot Software Crashes

Here’s a quick tip to help troubleshoot software crashes.
  1. Use Windows’ Event Viewer to shed light on the crash in Control Panel> System and Security> Administrative Tools.
  2. Click Event Viewer.
  3. On the left pane expand Windows Logs and select Application.
  4. In the top middle pane scroll down to the date and time of the event.
In this case I found a Revit crash pertaining to a .NET error.

I hope this helps.  Enjoy!
