Revit 2017: Reinforcement Connectors

Hi folks, IX here, one of the senior application specialists at Ideate, Inc. I'm back with more talk on reinforcement in Revit 2017.

Another one of my top five features in Revit 2017 is the ability to add 3D reinforcement connector modeling elements to my project. This new feature will improve the level of detail for reinforcement modeling and documentation.

The Reinforcement Connectors are family-based and fully customizable, enabling each team member the ability to use them according to his/her needs, whether it be in schematic design for the structural engineers or shop drawings for the detailers. Rebar Connectors interact with the rebar that they connect to and adapt to changes with the rebar. Additionally, you can add the connectors to groups, assemblies, and partitions with unique coupler numbering. Like other Revit elements will exported to various CAD formats.

Autodesk Revit Structure 2017: Variable Rebar Distribution

Hi folks, IX here, one of the Senior Application Specialists at Ideate, Inc. Let’s talk reinforcement in Revit 2017.

One of my top five favorite features in Revit 2017 is the ability to add Rebar Sets to non-standard concrete shapes (e.g. tapered beams).

This enhanced feature will increase your 3D modeling productivity and help you to define accurate reinforcement for non-standard shapes in concreate elements. Additionally, you’ll be able to use multi-rebar annotations, customizable numbering settings, and you’ll have more accurate schedules that will display varying rebar lengths.

Autodesk Revit Structure 2016: Path Reinforcement Enhancement


Users now have the ability to assign rebar shapes to the primary and alternating bars in a Path Reinforcement Systems in Revit Structure 2016.  When a path system is completed each bar will display as designed while maintaining the cover of the host and full range of the path reinforcement system sketch.

The path reinforcement enhancement increases Revit Structure reinforcement 3D modeling versatility and helps the user to define accurate detailing of concrete reinforcement for slabs and wall edges.

Revit Structure 2015: Reinforcement Annotation and Documenting Enhancements

In Revit Structure 2015, users now have the ability to apply Multi-rebar annotation to multiple rebar sets as a group of annotation. Multi-rebar annotation also now updates to better reflex the changes made to rebar sets. This enhancement to the multi-rebar annotation gives you greater support in documenting reinforced concrete.

In Revit Structure 2015, a new feature gives users the ability to show rebar set presentations by Show All, Show First, Last and Show Middle, or Select. Giving users the ability to create better reinforced concrete shop drawings. The bar presentation allows the reinforcement of structure elements to be displayed in a simple and readable manner. Multi-rebar annotation will also reflect the changes to the rebar set presentation.

NY Times - The Age of Concrete

Recently the New York Times had a fun op-ed piece on the world's tallest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa. Most interesting to me was that "the compressive strength of concrete has tripled in the last four decades, allowing concrete structures to be thinner, lighter and far, far taller."
