Use @IdeateBIMLink to Set If/Then Statements for Door and Room Parameters

Q: Can I use an IF/Then statement with a Door parameter to drive behavior based on Room or wall data in Autodesk Revit software? For example, you want to automatically set the fire rating of the door based on the wall host or you want to set a door undercut value based on the room usage.

A: Revit does not allow Room-based parameters to be used within formulas for non-room categories such as Doors. Ideate BIMLink, however, can be used to export both the door and room (or wall host) parameters. Once exported to Excel, an If/Then statement can easily be created to drive a Project or Shared Parameter to achieve these types of goals.
